Using the Oxford Referencing Style
Universities require a range of different referencing styles depending on the faculty and area of study.
Each area has their own particular way of referencing.
The point with referencing is that you must conform to the rules of the set style.
For our studies in VCE History we will be using the Oxford Referencing Style, which is a footnoting style, as opposed to an in-text citation style.

This is an example of an in-text citation, such as the Harvard Referencing Style.

Once you have opened the page in a new tab, follow these steps:
1. Select the 'Oxford (Footnotes) Referencing Style' from the list of options.
2. Along the top of the information box on the next page click on the tab 'Citing with Oxford'.
3. On the drop down menu select the option appropriate to the text you are wishing to reference. For example, if you are referencing an article off the Internet then you need to select either 'World Wide Web', or 'Journal Article (electronic)' if it is off an online journal database.
4. The grid on the page is the guide you need to follow. It provides the instructions in red text and an example below each.
If you are, for example, using a webpage, you will need to conform the to the instructions in the second line of the grid-box on the 'World Wide Web' page.
